Allegretto Orchestra
The Allegretto Orchestra is the introductory orchestral experience for children with one to two years of instrumental training. Ensemble skills are introduced that give a basic foundation for the future study of advanced repertoire. Skills that are emphasized include listening, playing together, tuning to a large group, music notation, bowing direction and following the baton. Proper rehearsal etiquette is introduced and reinforced as the students learn the role of the conductor for the first time. This beginning orchestra level is an important step and prepares our younger musicians for a successful transition to the upper level orchestras of HCYO. The Allegretto Orchestra is also a wonderful opportunity for its young musicians to stretch their abilities as they learn and exhibit self-discipline and team-work.
